Copyright, Design Patent, and Trademark Issues

Hi everybody!

I decided to talk a little bit about copyright issues. I know this could probably be in the “Legal” issue but I’m not going to approach fancy terms…I’m just going to share with you some thoughts.
As I walk in the streets I see a lot of banners/adds which uses fonts that are free but, if we read the disclaimer, it says that it cannot be used on commercial work unless the author says so. Now, I’m pretty sure that the company responsible for the add didn’t contacted the author (they assume that the “free” word is for everything)! Why I’m pretty sure? I’ve contacted 2 Font authors and they were surprised their fonts were used in some adds without their consent.
