Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is a marketing method in which a company or the affiliate program for each new sale or action performed by a visitor.
Affiliate Program

A partnership between the company that owns the product and a company or individual that promotes the product that earns commission on each sale or action.
CPA

Cost Per Action. The total cost of a predefined action. The action can be the signup for a newsletter or the order of an e-book, or even the installation of a toolbar.
CTR

Click Through Rate, the percentage of how many times a user clicked on your ad in relation to how many times the ad was shown. The formula is number of clicks / number of impressions * 100. There is no specific CTR which is good or bad. It all depends on the keyword, and the competition.
Google Slap

A marketers worst nightmare, Google doesn’t like you anymore and hits your account with 5 and 10 dollar bids. Usually thin affiliate sites get hit.
LPQ

Landing Page Quality, an important factor in the Google Adwords Quality Score algoritm
Link Building

Building links so your site will receive a higher page rank and rank better in the Search Engines.
Linkbaiting

A piece of text, image or other content that is specifically designed and set up to gather as much incoming links from as many different web sources as possible
Media Buy

The Purchase of advertising on an Ad network or individual website.
PPC

Pay Per Click, an Advertising Model in which the advertiser pays only for every time a user clicks on his or her ad.
Performance Marketing

An alternative term for Affiliate Marketing, where a publisher / affiliate is only paid for a new sale or predefined action of a visitor.
Ref ID

A specific combination of letters or and number that identifies visitors that came from your traffic
ROI
Return on Investment, one of the most bragged about terms in affiliate marketing. The return on investment is usually measured in percentages. If a user spends 50 dollars and makes 200 in commissions from that investment he has an ROI of 400%.
Super Affiliate

A big affiliate, one that makes big bucks in Affiliate Marketing. There are many self proclaimed super affiliates out there, truth is there is no real definition for where the line is between a regular affiliate and a super affiliate. So just assume that it’s an affiliate marketer that’s doing pretty well.

All skills, knowledge and tools that apply to the art of Search Engine Optimization, which means optimizing your site to get more traffic and rank higher in and from the Search Engines such as Google and Yahoo!
Split Testing

Testing the performance between multiple ads or landing pages.
Shaving

Shaving is the term that affiliates use when an Affiliate Program or network is illegally and invisible stealing sales from you.
